The Trustees of the Hyannis Public Library welcome you to use the library’s services and facilities. In order to make your visit enjoyable we ask that you follow the guidelines listed below:
- The Library is a place for quiet study and research. Any person who, in the opinion of the library staff, is habitually not using the library for its intended purpose will be limited to two (2) hours per day.
- Please respect the library and do not destroy or mar library materials or property. A copy machine is available to duplicate library materials. Persons damaging or defacing library property will be prosecuted.
- It is an act of larceny to remove any materials from the library without checking them out.
- Loitering on library premises, grounds, or parking lot is not permitted. Adult(s) without children will not linger in the Children’s Department.
- Parents are responsible for the behavior and supervision of their young children.
- Ask uniformed Security Guard for key to the restrooms that are locked for your safety and protection.
- Shoes and shirts must be worn in the library.
- Please refrain from eating, drinking, smoking and littering on library property.
- Use reference materials, newspapers and magazines only in the area(s) where they are shelved.
- Library telephones are for library business only.
- Please refrain from disturbing other library users with conversation.
- Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be asked to leave immediately.
- Disruptive noise or behavior and abusive or profane language are forbidden.
- Behavior that endangers oneself or others is forbidden.
- Profanity, shouts, threats, violence, drunkenness, sexual harassment, and other anti-social behavior will not be tolerated. Such behavior will result in a person being told to leave the library and not return. Police will be called.
