Women of Barnstable with Nancy Viall Shoemaker and the Hyannis Historical Society

September 15, 2021 @ 5:00 pm

Free
Women of Barnstable event cover.

Although women have been half of the population of the Town of Barnstable, and often the most influential half, historians have often ignored their contributions to the over 380 years of our town’s history. Local historians Nancy Viall Shoemaker and the late James Gould partnered up to create a book highlighting the adventures and accomplishments of over 200 women, spanning four centuries, inspired by Jim’s blog Barnstable Women.

Join us for an evening of enlightening — and sometimes amusing — local history at the Hyannis Village Green bandstand, listening to Nancy Viall Shoemaker tell the tales of the Women of Barnstable.

This program is free and open to the public. Brought to you by the Hyannis Historical Society and the Hyannis Public Library. For more info, please feel free to call the Library at (508) 775-2280.
