Citizen Scientist – Celebrate Urban Birds

June 1 @ 8:00 am - June 30 @ 5:00 pm

June Citizen Scientist Project is Celebrate Urban Birds

We are starting our new citizen scientist initiative.  It’s a way for all of us to become scientists…or least help gather data for scientists.  This month’s project is “Celebrate Urban Birds” with the world famous Cornell Lab of Ornithology. We’ll have a station downstairs to watch a short video on the project – and you can collect data sheets, information and make your own bird feeder to attract birds OR plant some flower seeds known to attract birds.

Here’s a short description of what you would be doing : You will gather information on several different urban birds during three 10 minute observations. The you will report the data to the scientists at Cornell Lab of Ornithology. If you need any assistance at all – you can come back here and the Children’s Room staff will be happy to help you.
