Citizen Science – The Great Sunflower Project!
May 1 @ 8:00 am - May 31 @ 5:00 pm

We are starting our new citizen scientist initiative. It’s a way for all of us to become scientists…or least help gather data for scientists. While this month’s project is titled “The Great Sunflower Project” – it’s really collecting data on pollinators for those scientists that study them and our biome! We’ll have a station downstairs to watch a short video on the project – and you can collect data sheets, information and your own seed and soil to help get those pollinators busy.
Here’s a short description of what you would be doing : “The Great Sunflower Project makes it easy to gather this information. Find a plant you know (or a Lemon Queen Sunflower), observe it for 5 or more minutes and record all pollinators that visit, and contribute data online. You can make as many observations as you want while your flowers are in bloom. Plant, Watch, Enter. Repeat. That’s it. And, who doesn’t like sunflowers?!”
